Objectives

  • Normal: Describe the type of epithelium that lines different areas of the stomach.

  • Gastritis: Know the definition of gastritis and identify the histologic changes associated with active and chronic gastritis

  • Helicobacter pylori gastritis: Recognize the pattern of injury seen in Helicobacter pylori gastritis

  • Autoimmune gastritis: Distinguish the pathogenesis and histopathologic findings of autoimmune gastritis

  • Hypertrophic gastropathies: know the pathogenesis of the two main hypertrophic gastropathies

  • Polyps and Tumors: Distinguish different types of polyps and adenocarcinoma of the stomach
