Frequently Asked Questions

Is PathElective really free?

Yes! PathElective is totally free. This is a project that has been in the works for some time, but it is finally available to the world for free. This includes certificates of completion, certificates of specialization, learning materials, quizzes, tests, and access to leaders in the field. The only stipulation is that you have to agree to our Terms and Conditions statement which includes the use of your de-identified data for future research purposes. Trust us, we will not sell your data to any third party vendors. This is for YOU not us.

Once I sign in, I get stuck on the register page. What do I do?

If you sign in, and you are brought to the register page, you have successfully signed in. You are now free to navigate the website. If you are stuck on a pop-up screen with your info and/or a “nothing to update” message, you are, in fact, signed in. There should be a small “x” in the top right (outside the white popup box) that would allow you to navigate the website.

How do I know if I am signed in?

In the bottom right corner of your screen, there should be a blue box. If the box reads “Login/Register” you are not signed in. You can sign in by clicking this button or the “sign in” link on the homepage below “Register Now.” If the blue box reads “My Account” you are successfully signed in, and you will be able to access course content.

What should I do if the login/register functionality is not working?

First, try clearing your cache/cookies and refresh the page. After that, try to login/register. If you are trying to sign in, but the pop-up menu is displaying your information, you have successfully signed in, and you are currently viewing your profile. You can exit out of that screen and continue onto the website.

What does it mean when a page displaying the following message: “Page Not Found”

This means that this page is currently under construction. Since this website is curated and created by practicing medical professionals and pathologists, there will be some pages that are still being created by the course directors. If you get this error, check the homepage to view the current course listings that are live. This list will including the lessons and modules that are live, and you can tailor your learning to that list.

If there is an issue with a link on a course page, who do I contact?

If there is an issue with a video, link, or page in a course, you can reach out to our web developers using the Contact Us page.

Who should I contact if I am having trouble understanding a concept in one of the module or if I feel as though there is a factual error in the material presented?

If you am having trouble understanding a concept in one of the module or feel as though there is a factual error in the material presented, use the course-specific contact page. This will be linked out on the course homepage. You could also try mentioning your course leadership on twitter to engage with the pathology community as a whole. If you choose to reach out to your professors on the course-specific contact page, the course leadership will be notified of the request, they will read the question using Google Sheets and respond using the communication method they feel is most appropriate. Please your messages do not go straight to the professors’ email account because we want to limit the amount of emails they receive. Additionally, this helps us keep their contact information confidential to prevent email overload. If you over-use the contact forms, your membership is subject to termination.

When will I receive my PathMentor match?

The PathMentors program is still in its infancy. Currently, we are looking for more mentors, so we can pair everyone with the best mentoring match possible.

Still have a question? Contact Us and we will try to fix your issue as soon as possible.
