B-Cell Development and Activation

B-cell Development.png

This week’s blog is a bit of a departure from classical clinical microbiology and into the world of immunology. I feel as though microbiology is inextricably linked to immunology. Plus, B-cells are just really cool. B-cell development is very complex and involves genetic mutations/ rearrangements, alternate RNA splicing, cell signaling, tertiary structural interactions, and DNA excision. I can’t think of a better bridge between microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and immunology. I hope you enjoy this figure—I’ll see you next week.
