Objectives

  • Understand the various imaging modalities utilized for the evaluation of the pancreas and biliary tract and how lesions are sampled.

  • Be familiar with the interpretative categories in The Papanicolaou Society of Cytopathology System for Reporting Pancreaticobiliary Cytology.

  • Recognize the cytomorphologic findings for normal and abnormal pancreaticobiliary cytology.

  • Be familiar with the ancillary studies used to evaluate pancreaticobiliary lesions.

  • Learn how to interpret results of pancreatic cyst fluid analysis.
